PopUpKunst II: The second event of our new series was also a wonderful success. With “PopUp Kunst im Treppenhaus” (PopUp Art in the Stairwell), the Marstall am See once again presented itself as an unusual art venue, as this time the front stairwell as well as former Gesinder rooms that had been closed for a long time shone the doors.
Cristina Blank, Gesine Dorschner, Steffi Kieffer, Felix Maizet, Stefanie Pietsch, Monika Roll and Enno Müller-Spaethe, the almost legendary artists from the built-in closet played and transformed the venerable building for a weekend. Acoustic door openers were the artist and musician Dazze Kammerl and our house band “Silverfish Surfers”.

With “Kunst im Einbauschrank” (“Art in the built-in cupboard”), the seven artist friends first stirred up the Herrschingen cultural scene in 2012, and in 2014 the group was awarded the Cultural Promotion Prize of the Starnberg district. The “artists from the built-in closet” prefer to exhibit in “off-spaces,” taking an installation approach, reacting to the conditions of the respective location and enchanting it with their wordplay. Their exhibitions have no “motto” and follow no guidelines. With playful nonchalance, the artists move in the most diverse disciplines from painting to object art. The offerings are as witty as they are poetic, but most importantly, they are not aloof or elitist: from postcards to large-scale paintings, there is something for everyone, and you don’t have to be an art connoisseur to have fun with this kind of art.
